 Yarrow - This gorgeous yet unassuming Herb quietly conceals great powers - in fact, I use it most frequently out of all my Herbs. One small leaf of Yarrow will speed decomposition of a wheelbarrow full of raw compost, it will activate the disease resistance of nearby plants, it intensifies the medicinal actions of other Herbs, and is also a potent Healer. It was considered sacred by the Druids, while in China, the stems were used to tell the future...

  Growing - Yarrow likes a sunny position, but will tolerate some shade.  It likes rich & moist soils, though again, Yarrow is one of those hardy 'field' Herbs..... I transplanted some of my Yarrow from our paddock in fact!

  Uses -  My Family uses the young leaves chopped finely in Salads, or in soft Cheese Dips, or as a lovely Garnish.

I like the Yarrow leaf in Herbal Teas. I use it as a tea for Digestive Problems, to ease Menstruation, Cleanse the System, ease Fevers & Cure a Cold.  The fresh leaves can be crushed and applied to Wounds,  Bites and Rashes.

  Recipe - Herbal Infusion - Make a Herbal Infusion, following the recipe for Mint on previous page. Use 1 Tablespoon of fresh Herb (1-2 tspns dried) in 1 cup of boiling water.  Leave to infuse for 1-15 mins, then drink hot 3 times a day.
